LED UVC technology
\nThe association between light and purification or disinfection is not immediate: but the special germicidal LED UV-C lamps emit high-intensity ultraviolet light that purifies air, water, and surfaces without the use of chemicals aggressive harmful to the environment.<\/p>\n
The absorption of photons in this wavelength (UVC: 100-280 nm) by DNA or RNA of micro-organisms causes destruction, by photochemical reaction, of this part which is vital in their reproduction process thus rendering them inactive.<\/p>\n

Can UVCs prevent the transmission of COVID-19?
\nThe answer to this and other questions comes from the document “”IUVA Fact Sheet on UV Disinfection for COVID-19″” (Study on the use of UV in disinfection and sanitization by Covid-19) published by the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA).<\/p>\n
All the bacteria and viruses tested to date (several hundred over the years), in fact react to UV light, specifically to the light between 200 and 280 nm, which inactivates them (ie kills). These tests include at least two close relatives of the COVID-19 virus:<\/p>\n
– SARS-CoV-1 (cause of SARS);
\n– MERS-CoV (responsible for Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome).<\/p>\n
COVID-19 infection can be caused by contact with contaminated surfaces and therefore by touching the mouth, eyes, nose. Minimizing this risk is a necessity as this virus can stay up to three days on plastic and steel surfaces.<\/p>\n
